Kazakhstan is a continental state located in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. It occupies an area of 2,724,900 square kilometres. It borders Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

- Cash: importation of foreign and national currency in cash is allowed without restriction. However, amounts exceeding the equivalent of USD 10000 are subject to mandatory written declaration.
- Weapons and ammunition: importation of military weapons and ammunition is prohibited.
- Narcotic and psychotropic substances: prohibited to import and export without appropriate authorisation.
- Objects of cultural and historical value: export without special permits is prohibited.

Kazakh cuisine reflects the rich history of nomadic people, combining traditions of meat and dairy dishes, as well as dough products. It is famous for hearty and calorific dishes, in which the main ingredients are meat (horse meat, mutton, beef), dairy products and various flour products.

- Beshbarmak: the main national dish consisting of boiled meat (horse, mutton or beef) served with noodles and broth. The name translates as ‘five fingers’ as it is traditionally eaten with the hands.
- Kazi: homemade horse meat sausage made from the rib part of a horse, seasoned with spices and garlic.
- Kuirdak: roast of fresh offal (liver, kidneys, heart) fried with onions and potatoes on turkey fat.
- Koktal: large fish (usually carp or catfish) cut along the backbone and smoked on a grill with vegetables such as tomatoes and onions.
- Baursaki: small airy balls of yeast dough deep-fried to a golden crust. They are served as an independent dish or as an accompaniment to main courses.
- Lagman: a dish of long hand noodles served with meat and vegetables in a rich broth.
- Gent: a sweet made of crushed cottage cheese, millet, sugar, sultanas and butter, formed into bars and served with tea.
- Chak-chak: a sweet treat made of fried pieces of dough, drizzled with honey syrup and formed into a slide.
- Koumiss: fermented mare's milk with a light alcoholic content, known for its health benefits.
- Shubat: sour camel's milk, a popular drink in the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
- Kazakh tea: strong black tea with milk or cream, often served with baursaks and other sweets.

- Largest landlocked country: Kazakhstan is the ninth largest landlocked country in the world in terms of area. Its territory is about 2.7 million square kilometres.
- Baikonur Cosmodrome: Kazakhstan is home to the world's first and largest cosmodrome, Baikonur. It was from here that the first human flight into space - Yuri Gagarin - took place in 1961.
- Home of apples and tulips: Apples and tulips are believed to originate from Kazakhstan. Wild apple trees growing in the foothills of the Tien Shan Mountains were the ancestors of many modern apple varieties.
- Medeu - the highest ice rink: On the outskirts of Almaty is the Medeu, a high-altitude sports complex known as the world's highest ice rink, located 1,691 metres above sea level.
- Multinationality: Kazakhstan is home to more than 130 ethnic groups, reflecting the country's cultural diversity.
- Longest land border: Kazakhstan and Russia have the longest continuous land border in the world, some 7,644 kilometres long.
- Golden Man: In 1969, the ‘Golden Man’ - the remains of a Sak warrior in gold attire - was found in the Issyk barrow and became a symbol of Kazakhstan's independence.
- Tea culture: Kazakhstan is among the countries with the highest per capita consumption of tea, second only to water as the most popular beverage.
- Ascension Cathedral in Almaty: Almaty is home to the unique Ascension Cathedral, built in the early 20th century without a single nail. It is one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world.
- Pink Flamingos: Kazakhstan is the northernmost place in the world where pink flamingos come to visit. Their number reaches up to 36,000 individuals in the Kurgaldzhinskiy reserve.
